Fast Iced Tea
At this time of the year, iced tea seems to disappear incredibly quickly. That’s why a good, quick method of making more is a good thing to have!
Surprisingly, our cold brewing method can produce a gallon of tea in 30 minutes or less with the right tea. The trick is choosing a tea that is finely cut. Some loose teas, Strong Assam or Irish Breakfast for example, work well, but this is a case where teabags excel. The very fine cut used in standard teabags is ideal for fast infusion. We like PG Tips very much for iced tea. 10 to 12 teabags in 1 gallon of room temperature water will be nicely infused in 30 minutes or less. After 30 minutes, go ahead and refrigerate the tea. No need to remove the teabags, unless you like fishing! This is a fairly strong brew, so adjust the number of teabags to suit your taste, or just dilute the brew with more water. PG Tips comes in a 240 count box for $21.95. That makes 20 or more gallons of tea for little more than a $1.00 a gallon. Compare that to the cost of the soda you’re drinking!
